During a verbal altercation, a former security guard at a building in Beverly Hills claimed that the rapper spat on her and used a fingernail to scratch her nose.

A jury decided that rapper Cardi B was not responsible for any wrongdoing after she was accused of hitting a security guard in a civil trial that created a lot of buzz online.

The jury agreed that the security guard didn’t show enough evidence for claims of assault, carelessness, or emotional harm. Cardi B, dressed in a black outfit with white dots and a red bow, made the sign of the cross when the jury shared their decision on Tuesday, September 2.

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, faced a lawsuit from a former security guard who worked at a Beverly Hills building back in 2018 when the Grammy-winning artist was expecting her first baby. The guard, Emani Ellis, claimed that Cardi spat at her and scratched her nose during an argument.

The rapper known for “Bodak Yellow” has said these accusations are not true. During her testimony the week before, Cardi claimed that Ellis followed her to her doctor’s office and appeared to be recording her.

Both women said they had a fierce argument.

Cardi mentioned that she was worried because she was pregnant and felt that Ellis, whom she described as “large,” was bigger than her. Although Cardi admitted to using some bad words, she firmly stated that she never touched Ellis.

“She couldn’t have gotten hurt by me because I didn’t hit her,” she explained.

Ellis told the court that the situation deeply affected her and that she needed surgery to fix scars from the supposed attack. She also mentioned that she lost her job because of what happened.

David Finke, the doctor that Cardi was visiting that day, told the court that he was the one who informed the practice manager about what happened with Ellis. He mentioned that while he was in his office, he heard shouting.

When he stepped outside, Finke noticed his receptionist standing between Ellis and Cardi before he got involved. He spoke to Ellis, trying to calm things down, by telling her to “stop” and “do your job.”

Finke said he never saw Cardi hit Ellis. His receptionist, Tierra Malcolm, also testified that she didn’t witness any physical fight between the two women.

On that day, nobody else was in the doctor’s office because they had decided to close early that Saturday afternoon to respect Cardi’s privacy, as stated in the court testimony.
